What a cookie does here, the three groups we sort them into, how to change your mind, and the full current list.

The short version

A cookie is a small file a site leaves in your browser so it can remember something. This site needs almost none of them. On your first visit a banner asks what you allow, nothing beyond the strictly necessary runs until you answer, and whatever you choose the site works the same.

The three groups

Every cookie on this site falls into one of three groups, and you decide on each one separately.

  • Necessary. The ones without which the site cannot do its job: remembering your consent answer, so we stop asking. These are always on, because there is nothing to consent to.
  • Statistics. Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people actually read and how they arrived. We use it to decide what to write next. It never runs unless you accept it.
  • Marketing. The Meta pixel, which lets us measure our Instagram and Facebook advertising and show it to people it might suit. It never runs unless you accept it.

Changing your mind

Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing, which is the law and also just fair. Use the cookie settings link at the bottom of any page and the banner comes back with your current answer, ready to change. You can also clear cookies in your browser at any time, which resets everything including the question itself.

Your theme choice is not a cookie

The light and dark switch is remembered in your own browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else. It stays on your device until you clear it.

This table is generated from a scan of the live site, so it is the real list rather than one we remembered to update.

Every cookie this site can set is listed here. The first is ours and cannot be switched off, because it is what remembers your answer. The rest are set only if you allow them, and are deleted if you refuse.
